Glenn Greenwald is a lawyer-turned-journalist who won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for reporting on Edward Snowden's NSA disclosures and co-founded The Intercept in 2014 (which he left in 2020 over an editorial-independence dispute). He has since built an independent operation, hosting the 'System Update' show and publishing long-form journalism, now re-based on Substack (cross-posted to his Locals community).

State and corporate power expand fastest when a compliant press stops scrutinizing them, so the core job of journalism is adversarial: expose mass surveillance, censorship pressure, and official secrecy regardless of party, and defend civil liberties and free expression even for speech you find repugnant.

In January 2020, Brazilian federal prosecutors charged Greenwald with cybercrimes over his reporting on leaked 'Operation Car Wash' messages. In February 2020 a Brazilian federal judge declined to proceed, citing a Supreme Court injunction protecting the reporting, and the case did not move forward. [source]
