Riley Gaines
Restricting women's sports and sex-based spaces (locker rooms, competition categories) to biological females.
Riley Gaines is a 12-time All-American collegiate swimmer who became the leading activist for sex-based eligibility in women's sports after tying with transgender swimmer Lia Thomas at the 2022 NCAA Division I Championships. In 2025 she left the Riley Gaines Center at the Leadership Institute and signed a multiyear deal with OutKick and Fox News Media, where she hosts 'Gaines for Girls' and 'The Riley Gaines Show.' A Turning Point USA contributor, she led rallies at the U.S. Supreme Court in January 2026 during oral arguments on transgender athletes in women's sports.
The strongest case
Elite female athletes deserve fair competition and bodily privacy; the physical advantages conferred by male puberty are real, and preserving a protected female category is exactly what Title IX was written to do.
And against
Critics argue she generalizes from a single race into sweeping policy, overstates how many athletes are affected, and that her framing stigmatizes a tiny, vulnerable trans population; her platform is also heavily partisan and monetized (TPUSA, Fox/OutKick).
