Protect Kids Colorado is a grassroots parental-rights coalition led by executive director Erin Lee, describing itself as parents, grandparents, and concerned citizens working to protect kids and strengthen families in Colorado. It opposes what it calls 'gender ideology' in schools and pediatric medical transition, and is running 2026 Colorado ballot initiatives on girls' sports designation, age restrictions on sex-change surgery for minors, and child sex-trafficking penalties.

Parents have a legitimate, mainstream right to direct their children's upbringing and weigh in on school curricula and irreversible medical decisions; guarding minors against premature or poorly-evidenced interventions is a concern shared well beyond the political right.

Its ballot language and rhetoric can misstate medical reality — genital surgery on minors is rare — and risk targeting a vulnerable group; its HB25-1312 challenge reframes anti-discrimination protections as compelled speech, a contested legal theory that has not prevailed on the merits.
